Like every year, even this year Dataquest ranked Top 20 Indian BPOs based on the revenues and the performance of each BPO in the past financial year. Global Services has picked up Top 10 from the list of 20 and analyzed the factors and the events that worked in the favor of some while at the same time also pointing out the factors that pulled down a few companies rankwise. A comparison of ranks in 2007 and 2008 is also done in the table given below.

Rank (2008) Rank (2007) Company Remarks
1 Genpact Last Aug., it had acquired a delivery center located at Guatemala from GE and then within a span of seven days signed a deal with Miami’s Children Hospital. Earlier this year, Genpact also entered in a joint venture with NIIT to create skilled talent pool and had signed a contract with Hyatt. Moreover, Genpact also has a separate analytics division to pump the extra revenue. Therefore due to its hyperactivity, Genpact holds an indisputable rank 1
2 Aditya Birla Minacs  Even after one year, the company is still encashing the acquisition of Minacs by TransWorks. Moreover, it has the booming KPO*, which is expected to grow the maximum for the next few years, as one of its key offerings
4 TCS BPO  TCS BPO has won a huge non-voice deal for the entire passport-application processing from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and also made an impact in the clinical data management. The BPO is also active in the platform-based activities. It has created a separate unit for its insurance platform, IIMS, along with HR and payroll platforms
3 IBM Daksh  The step to start undertaking non-voice projects such as analytics, which it has integrated with its BPO offerings, has worked pretty well for IBM Daksh. One of the major activities witnessed was the deal for the transfer of the entire contact support from MakeMyTrip
6 WNS Global Services   The $1 billion Aviva-WNS deal was one of the most talked about deals this year. Though WNS’ revenue from the loan-services offerings were hit due to U.S. mortgage crisis, its separate huge analytics division saved the day for it. The company also acquired BizApps and Call 24/7
9 Firstsource Solutions The KPO subsidiary of Firstsource, Pipal Research, had bagged a three-year deal with BT Global Services in Apr. ’08. Moreover, the acquisition of MedAssist by Firstsource gave it the necessary jump. Though right now Firstsource itself is out for acquisition
7 Wipro BPO Four of Wipro BPO’s customers went live on the ‘Base’ platform. Secondly, Wipro, too, has integrated its analytics services with BPO offerings
12 Infosys BPO It launched a procure-to-pay platform along with separate analytics division to push its revenues and move it four positions up from 2007
5 Cambridge Solutions The company had more of a bad year than good. It launched a center at Chennai, India to expand its India operations. But still it lost four positions in ranking since last year as it is primarily into loan servicing, which was badly hit by the sub-prime mortgage crisis
10 HCL BPO  Maintaining its position on No. 10 since last year, the acquisition of Capital Stream by HCL BPO has worked monetarily well for the BPO.
