In Strong Hands

Last year, the time of the Global Services 100 issue saw a change at Global Services — the then Editor-in-Chief left at the end of the issue to set off on his own. This year, too, Global Services is seeing a change. And this time it’s I who is leaving.

I promise to talk facts if you allow me two sentences to get emotional. It sounds phantom like, but I have been associated with Global Services since before its birth — I was involved in setting up Global Outsourcing back in 2004, a monthly newsletter that later evolved into Global Services. And now that the baby has grown up, mommy has decided to move on .

And, not without making sure that you are being left in safe (and strong) hands. Ed Nair, our current North America head, will now be in the hot seat, making sure that you get the most current and relevant content through our magazine, Website, newsletter, blogs and conferences. His mandate, like mine before him, remains to give you useful content to make informed decisions on the global sourcing of IT and BPO services.

Ed has been following the global hi-tech industry since he first started working for IDC, 17 years ago. Somewhere down the line, he turned from analyst to journalist, but chose to remain focused on technology; and more recently, as the world turned toward technology-driven globalization, so did he. While from the next issue on, you will read stories chosen by Ed’s trained editorial eye, this issue you can enjoy our annual, much-awaited survey of the top 100 global IT and BPO service providers. We list the top 100 providers, and then rank the winners according to sub categories such as top providers for IT infrastructure services and top providers for finance and accounting outsourcing. We also analyze the key industry trends emerging from the survey.

The objective behind our survey is to provide you, the customers of services, with a ready shortlist of the most credible global service providers. And we hope you find it useful when seeking to search for outsourcing service providers.
