MphasiS, an EDS company, has expanded its Chennai operations, and has also inaugurated its new Enterprise Labs.

MphasiS’ Enterprise Lab will provide engineering, development and testing environments for MphasiS and EDS service offering development and delivery teams worldwide. The facility will accelerate the efforts of development teams and enable the company to go to market faster with domain-based services that address customer needs.

“Chennai’s plus points of high connectivity, land availability, and a low attrition rate of seven percent to 13 percent [compared to 50 percent to 100 percent in Indian cities like Bangalore, Mumbai and Hyderabad]. India’s IT sector has grown at 28 percent annually, while Chennai growth has been 60 percent! With such magnitude, Chennai is expected to house more than 70,000 workers of the top Indian IT companies. In addition, Chennai is an established location for automotive engineering services, product development and health care BPO,” said Jeya Kumar, CEO, Mphasis to Global Services while revealing the reason behind expanding operations in Chennai.

At present MphasiS has around 2,200 employees in the city, and the new center will add 3,600 more seats.

“Opening the Enterprise Lab is an important milestone to accelerate ITO expansion and provides high-quality solutions to MphasiS and EDS clients in India and around the world. The new facility at Chennai will enable us to go to the market faster with domain-based services that address customer needs,” said Kumar.

“We are building up our remote infrastructure-management capability and continue to make investments in autonomic computing to propel our ITO while building deep domain expertise in our Apps and BPO portfolio to continue our growth story. We are driving both productivity and operational improvements and are in the process of launching this organization in the big league and we are eying at being a tier 1 soon,” added Kumar.
