Being one of the emerging destinations, Philippines is definitely seeing a lot of action. Sutherland Global Services, as a part of its expansion plan, has expanded its presence by setting up a new BPO facility in Camarines Sur in the Philippines.
Sutherland already has three other BPO facilities in various parts of Philippines — Manila, Clark and Davao City. The Camarines Sur facility has a total capacity of 400 employees, extending service offerings ranging from back-office and customer-lifecycle-management services to Sutherland’s Fortune 500 customer base.
When asked why was the Philippines selected as a destination for the fourth facility, Dilip Vellodi, Chairman and CEO, Sutherland Global Services, comments, “Philippines is a strategic component of Sutherland’s global service delivery model. Its favorable economic environment, technically skilled workforce and business-friendly government policies have all been driving forces in our ability to rapidly scale our operations.”
The company has also made public its plan to set up a new global campus in Chennai, India with a capacity of 10,000 employees. The construction process will being later this year for this campus. “We are pleased with the progress we have made in India in 2007, having ramped our headcount to over 11,000 people. India will continue to be an integral part of Sutherland’s global expansion. Chennai has been the offshore hub for Sutherland and our first point of entry into India,” adds Vellodi explaining the reason for so much activity in India.
