The year gone by was a good one for Genpact, with the highlight being its listing on the NYSE. Toward the end of the year, speculation was also rife about the company acquiring the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) arm of Citigroup in India, though Genpact itself is not commenting on the matter.
Over the years, Genpact has done well to in cash on its GE legacy, with most of its senior management staff either being in the company from the GECIS days or new ones being ex GE employees, giving to the company the process excellence. The company’s operational excellence is driven by Six Sigma, Lean and re-engineering.
Genpact saw the number of its delivery centers grow from 23 in ’06 to over 30 centers in ’07, and the number of employees from 27,000 in ’06 to 31,700 in ’07. Inorganically, the company acquired ICE in Europe and Axis in India last year.
It has also combated attrition well in ’07 — their turnaround rate fell from 32 percent in ’06 to 29 percent in Q3 ’07. This is among the lowest attrition rates in the BPO industry. Moreover, Genpact is expecting a 30 to 32 percent increase in revenue in this financial year from the last one.
