Head, Human Resources, HP, Costa Rica
What attracted you to set up a center in Costa Rica?
The political, economic and social stability of Costa Rica was the reason for us to locate our operations center here. The dominance and quality of the human resource that speaks English language is one of the positives we have found on Costa Rican ground.
What sort of work are you offering from your Costa Rican center?
HP has two offices in Costa Rica; one that provides tech solutions, services and products to the local and regional market of Central America, and the second, the Global Center of Services, is the subsidiary in charge of providing sourcing services to the corporate clients.
Which regions are being served from this center?
We mainly service customers from Central America as Costa Rica falls in the central standard time zone, which is favorable to the customers and serves as a strategic location for nearshoring to them.
What are the challenges you face in the country?
More and more people and companies are coming to Costa Rica, so competition is getting bigger every day. This is the challenge we face, but it is also the motivation to grow.
What are your expansion plans in Costa Rica?
We are in a process of expanding our operations in the Central American market. At the moment, we have two offices in Costa Rica with a headcount of about 4,500 people.
