Surprise 3: Patni Finishes Last
In 2005, Patni was a poster boy in the Black Book’s list at 6th position. This year, it finished last at 50th position!
What went wrong?
The Black book attributes the company’s fall to “bad attitude and customer focus, which developed internally when top investors exited.” Moreover, “The sale of the company looms despite CEO’s denials,” which contributes to the company’s slip.
In 2005, General Atlantic Partners partially exited from its investments in Patni. Now General Atlantic is looking to sell its remaining stake and the promoters of the company Gajendra and Ashok Patni, too, are looking to offload their share. Carlyle and Apax Partners are said to be in the race to buy the stake.
The findings of the study are based on the 22,070 responses from customers of outsourcing services.
Surprise 4: 87.3% Customers are Likely to Outsource to South Africa
Almost 87% of the customers who polled for the study say that they would outsource to companies in South Africa if they don’t have companies in India as an option.
Canada, U.K. and Ireland, Philippines and Southeast Asia, Germany, Central and South America, Russia and Eastern Europe, Israel and Middle East, Mexico and Africa are amongst the other preferred offshoring destinations.
But, where is the most-talked about China? And Germany — why does that appear as an outsourcing destination?
