7-Eleven, a U.S.-based one of the largest chains in the convenience retailing industry, has renewed its outsourcing contract with EDS, a U.S.-based information technology services company. The duration and financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Under the terms of the agreement, EDS will be responsible for 7-Eleven's enterprise application and infrastructure management. The agreement allows 7-Eleven the flexibility to easily manage its portfolio of applications as business needs and processes change, currently enabling 7-Eleven in aligning its IT portfolio with the company's retailer initiative strategy.
EDS has provided IT services for 7-Eleven for more than 15 years, helping the retailer integrate all its sales, inventory, purchasing and accounting systems within a single enterprise-wide solution.
The agreement is also based on the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework, a standard set of best practice approaches and procedures that improve IT service delivery and helps organizations such as 7-Eleven improve productivity.
