Outsourcer Affiliated Computer Services continues to win key government contracts even though its the target of a controversial buyout offer by its chairman and a private equity group.
On Monday, ACS said it signed a $75 million contract to provide a range of back office services to the U.S. Department of Labor. Under the agreement, ACS will provide bill processing services to the departments Office of Workers Compensation Programs and several other federally operated workers compensation plans.
The services will include call center support, claims resolution, imaging, and Web portal management. The deal extends services that ACS was previously providing to the department under a previous subcontract.
Last week, ACS Chairman Darwin Deason said he is teaming up with Cerberus Capital Management in an effort to take publicly traded ACS private for $59.25 per share. At least two shareholder groups reacted almost immediately with lawsuits against the company designed to block acceptance of the bid, which they claim undervalues ACS.
