With constant upward movement in the last few months of 2006, the index registers a 2.9% increase
The GSP 100 Index continued its upward trend, closing at 1190.35 on Jan. 8, up 2.9% for the 30-day period. The S&P 500 closed at 1,412.84, virtually unchanged for the 30-day period.
Advancing stocks led decliners, 12–11. The top gainer was Teletech, which closed at 25.37, up 10.8%, followed by Unisys (8.01, up 8.5%), Accenture (37.21, up 7.9%), Patni (20.59, up 7%) and IBM (98.9, up 5.1%). The biggest loser was Cognizant (78.31, down 3.6%), followed by CGI (6.76, down 3.2%), Keane (11.86, down 3.1%), ACS (48.56, down 2.1%) and Bearingpoint (7.88, down 2.4%).
ACS said its chairman benefited from a wrongly dated stock option, and that a portion of the 2002 award would be repriced to cut its potential value by $655,000.
