The GSP 100 Index sizzled during the month of August, rising from 976 on Aug. 4 to 1023 on Sept. 5. During the same period, the S&P 500 also experienced a boom, rising from 1279 to 1313.
Only two companies, CSC and Sapient, fell during the period. CSC fell six percent to close at 47.3, while Sapient fell three percent to close at 4.9. Sapient disclosed on Aug. 18 that it had been notified regarding its noncompliance with Nasdaq’s rule on timely disclosure of the quarterly 10-Q report.
Gainers were led by iGate, which rose 27% during the month, followed by Teletech Holdings (18%), Patni (17.8%), eFunds (17.3%) and Satyam (10.7%). On Aug. 21, Jefferies upgraded Patni from “hold” to “buy.”
