ViaWest, a hosted solutions and broadband-access company based in Denver, Col., has acquired Fortix, a managed-services provider based in Portland, Ore.
The acquisition offers the customers of Fortix access to ViaWests enterprise suite of products and services including use of data centers in Utah and Colorado, which will provide data protection options for disaster-recovery planning.
ViaWest is paying for the company with part of the $31 million in debt financing it received from a financial institution in New York.
Of the $31 million secured, ViaWest will use $13 million to re-pay existing debt and fund the immediate acquisition of Fortix. The remaining $18 million is earmarked for additional expansion and acquisition.
Fortix provides a broad range of IT outsourcing solutions including hosted application services and business-continuance systems. The purchase of Fortix adds a portfolio of additional service offerings that complement ViaWests existing managed hosting and co-location solutions.
