An Indian daily has reported that infotech major Wipro Technologies may bag a large chunk of General Motors’ (GM) $1.8 billion IT outsourcing contract. Currently, the contract is up for renewal since GM’s 10-year ‘master service agreement’ with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) has come to an end.

GM is likely to announce its new outsourcing partners over the next couple of weeks. Wipro is already doing outsource service work for other global auto companies, including Nissan, Magneti Marelli, Harman Becker Automotive Systems.

Both Wipro Technologies and GM have however refused to confirm the deal, according to Economic Times.
