Argentina-based Globant is a startup company that has quickly made its mark as a low-cost solutions provider. Globant’s low-cost advantage is as much a result of labor arbitrage as it is of its expertise in providing open-source based solutions.
Only a year after its operation, the company bagged it first big ticket customer, U.K.-based travel Website,
lastminute.com. Since then the company has had a steady stream of customers.
Globant makes the most of two advantages that Argentina offers: It uses its nearshore presence to attract American customers, and its cultural affinity with Europe to gain European clientele. Many of Globant’s employees hold dual passports, and can travel freely to customer sites in Europe. Currently, Globant’s client mix is more in favor of Europe, and it is trying to ramp up its U.S. presence.
