As a nearshore destination, Romania is one of the most attractive outsourcing destinations for the buyer companies from Germany, France, the U.K., Italy and other European nations. Opportunities are immense, not only for the IT-services providers but also for the Knowledge-process Outsourcing (KPO) companies who are making their presence felt in Romania. The country has been attracting companies from various geographies to build an establishment. The nation is now enticing Indian KPO firms

Most recently, Evalueserve, a global research and analytics company, announced the setting up of a research center in Romania. This delivery center will provide KPO services such as business research, investment research, intellectual property research and data analytics services to European customers. The company selected this country to fulfill its customers’ multilingual requirements.

Another India-based KPO services company, The Smart Cube, has also set up a delivery center in Romania to extend the company’s execution capabilities beyond India and give it a firm footprint in the fast-growing Central and Eastern European region. At present, the company has 10 employees in the Romania center.

“Availability of skilled talent, geographical and cultural proximity to the European customers, good infrastructure, are the major benefits that attract providers like us toward the country,” says Sameer Walia, Managing Director, The Smart Cube. Besides the advantages of being a nearshore outsourcing destination, the cost of operations and wages in Romania are also comparable to India. In fact, we can also cater our European customers in a better way.”

Romania became a EU member on January 1st, 2007. So the presence in Romania allows these new entrants to embark on the benefits of being a European Union (EU) member. This makes it easier and safer for buyers to work with outsourcing companies.

After software firms, Romania is gradually picking up the rope for becoming a hotspot for Indian KPO players.

Benefits of Having a Center in Romania
  • Vast talent pool with analytical skills
  • Cultural and geographical proximity to the European customers
  • Better infrastructure
  • Lower wages
  • Additional benefits of being a EU member.
