Deepak Batheja, a Global Services’ reader, and VP at Unisys, sent in a mail a few months ago asking us to do a story around predictions for the global sourcing industry. It didn’t take us long to decide that this was an excellent idea, and as we began work a few weeks later we decided to position this story as a “special” and slate it for the end of the year. We didn’t want a motherhood story on the future of global sourcing — that is something that we all hear about at conferences and in most end-of-the-year magazine issues. So we broke the story into several discrete themes that we believe will help you plan your sourcing strategies for the near future.
Every issue of Global Services has 10 to 12 pages set aside for “experts from the industry” — customers and advisors who write about best practices on global sourcing based on their experiences. Yet, this is the first time that we have devoted an entire magazine issue to the views of experts, and are very happy with the outcome. Our this month’s cover story is suggested by you and written by you. This is just one example of our endeavor to make Global Services an interactive gateway for the global sourcing community. Another powerful tool that we have, but which many of you seem not to be aware of, is the Global Services Blog; our blog is unique as here you are not just a passive reader, but also have the chance to actively contribute by starting your own blog. At the blog, you don’t just read; you speak out! We look forward to hearing from more of you on the topics that you would like us to cover. We are listening. Write in to me at juhib@cybermedia.co.in or to any of our writers and editors. Our this month’s cover story is suggested by you and written by you. This is just one example of our endeavor to make Global Services an interactive gateway for the global sourcing community. Moreover, we chose not to write this story ourselves. Instead, we approached you — those experts who have gotten their hands dirty while sourcing services from around the world — to make predictions for the year 2010. And I’m pleased to say that all of you, save for perhaps a couple, whom we approached found the time to write for us. And it is your predictions that occupy the pages of this special issue. |
